WHAT IS EARTH DAY?
“Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22, on which day events worldwide are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. Though it was first celebrated in 1970; it is now something people worldwide coordinate with and celebrate together. These days it is celebrated in more than 200 countries each year. This year on Earth day, there will be a march on to the Washington Mall to talk about how important SCIENCE is to our future. The Earth Day Network and the March for Science Groups are co-organizing a rally and teach-in on the National Mall in Washington, D.C 2017. The day’s program will include speeches and trainings with scientists, civic organizers, musical performances, and a march through the streets of Washington, D.C. Creating the sense of awareness about vital science innovations we need to think about when moving forward and saving our Mother Earth. The crowd will gather at 8:00am, and the teach-in will begin at 10:00am if your are interested in attending please visit http://www.earthday.org/marchforscience/ “This Earth Day, join the effort to defend the vital public service role science plays in our communities and our world.Science serves all of us.It protects our air and water, preserves our planet, saves lives with medical treatments, creates new industries, puts food on our tables, educates the next generation, and safeguards our future.Science isn’t Democratic or Republican, liberal or conservative. Indeed, threats to science are pervasive throughout governments around the world.Using the teach-in concept deployed for the very first Earth Day in 1970, the rally and teach-in on the National Mall will focus on the need to hold our leaders – both in science and in politics – accountable to the highest standards of honesty, fairness, and integrity. The vital role science plays in our democracy must be preserved.” Here’s some Earth Day Poetry
I am of the earth
She is my mother
She bore me with pride
She reared me with love
She cradled me each evening
She pushed the wind to make it sing
She built me a house of harmonious colors
She fed me the fruits of her fields
She rewarded me with memories of her smiles
She punished me with the passing of time
And at last when I long to leave
She will embrace me for eternity.
“God has cared for these trees, saved them from drought, disease, avalanches, and a thousand tempests and floods. But he cannot save them from fools.” ~John Muir
Skeletal Exsistence
seeking comfort in a walk-in closet
this little room is spared
as a forest preserve ridiculously reserved
for leftover green space incorrectly prepared
cigarette butts against our soles
again and again and again
smoke stacks the air until acid rains
throwaways litter mother’s sensitive skin
her pathways have become paper trails
when no one’s looking the common good fails
we subtract life’s essence with knowing hands
with mindless rituals of the manicured lawn
rake nutrients; add fertilizer, plant killer, water
coexisting with nature has been withdrawn
as unkind man advances, the environment recedes
like fiber and flesh that can’t breathe
on a park bench in a walk-in closet
will my children find Earth has gone the distance
or the ecosystem in clear plastic containers
and life decidedly a skeletal existence.
Ode to Nature by Connie Marcum Wong
Health of nature’s furnishing.
Say, thou modern-winged antique,
Was thy mistress ever sick?
In each heaving of thy wing
Thou dost health and leisure bring,
Thou dost waive disease and pain
And resume new life again.
By Lola Ridge
And poised in space …
A great bird resting in its flight
Between the alleys of the stars.
It is the wind’s hour off ….
The wind has nestled down among the corn ….
The two speak privately together,
Awaiting the whirr of wings.
DisIntegrating Apostacy
Integrity of Healthy Wealth
You have heard it said
Turn your swords into plowshares.
We, both Left and Right, echo that to add
Turn from planting bombs and bullets and barbs
to planting trees, and shrubs and carbon-infested fibers.
If our problem is too extreme climate change,
Our resolution is to plant trees, not bombs,
plant shrubs, not refuge-denying international shrugs,
plant and re-invest carbon, not climate runaway,
through cooperative multi-enculturing capital values,
not egocentric hoarding pathologies.
Does this sound like Republican apostasy?
Apostatize--to depart from exegetically nurturing integrity.
Hypostatize--to treat and/or regard as a distinct substance
or reality.
Antonym: Creolization
To democratically domesticate is to creolize by bringing together
what was LeftBrain deductively taken apart.
Domesticate: To matriarchally train and mentor for humane cooperative purposes;
exclusive of patriarchal hoarding and/or self-indulgent divestment from Earth's cooperative economy.
Capturing and Hoarding (aka LeftBrain Piracy): Sins of long-term degenerative hoarding,
loss of nutritional flowstream,
dissonant egocentric choices with WinLose assumptions
where ego/eco-systemic WinWin options are bilaterally apparent.
Matriarchal AntiThesis:
CoOperative WinWin GaiaGame Hypothesis:
Carbon/capital re-invesment in global domestication
is dynamically equivalent to
WinWin healthy-wealth root systems
of and for nutritional values v pathological disvalues.
To LeftBrain hypostatize
is to RightBrain creolize
as revolution is to evolution,
as totalitarianYang is to domesticatingYin
as patriarchal dualism is to matriarchal co-gravity
as positive space is to double-binding WinWin bilateral time.
We need to comprehend
as of yesterday,
if not earlier,
a profound ecotherapeutic difference
between hypostatizing YangLeft and YinRight dualistically bipolar,
mutually repellent [EitherLeft/Orright deductive dominance]
And creolizing Yang with Yin nondually dipolar,
co-arising as co-gravitating [Both/And inductive intuition].
Just as absolute Yangpower corrupts absolutely,
universally,
foundationally,
fundamentalistically,
elitist-plutocratically,
egocentrically,
ethnocentrically,
anthropocentrically,
So too, absolute love, creolizes integrity, syncretically,
symmetrically,
zero-sum polypathically,
polynomially,
poly-enculturingly,
eco-politically
cooperative nutritionally
health as wealth of regenerate value,
ego/eco-normative.
Integrity's creolic key toward climate health,
internal and external,
psychological and political and economic and ecological,
is to look at how we cooperatively reinvest in carbon catchment
and disinvest of carbon exhaust,
loss,
waste
of competitive breath.
WinLeft/LoseRight sub-optimal thinking.
But, the same could be said of water
and oxygen
as breath
and love and integrity its creolizing,
rather than hypostatizing,
co-arising interdependent selves.
LeftBrain hypostatizing domination of history,
when we could also be RightBrain creolizing her domesticating democratizing creation story,
is rooted in egocentric WinLose hypocrisy,
denial of immediate and continuously interdependent co-responsibility
for who we already healthy are
and whom we are not cooperatively wealthing,
yet.
As long as our LeftBrain enculturation lords it over a lower class,
We are all RightBrain poor.
As long as we recognize a LeftBrain criminalizing element,
We are all RightBrain outside our moral-normative fertile fold.
As long as we capture and hold prisoners
for their further degeneration,
We are, none of us, optimally free
to enjoy our multiculturally becoming sweet spot.
